PPMA aims to educate consumers about the threats of rodents and importance of working with a professional
The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), is working to spread consumer awareness about the health and property threats posed by rodents during Rodent Awareness Week, October 21-27, 2018. Celebrating its fifth year, this annual, weeklong designation is recognized by Chase’s Calendar of Events and is heavily promoted by PPMA through a consumer media relations campaign and various social and digital initiatives.
“A 2017 survey conducted by PPMA found that nearly three in 10 homeowners would call a licensed pest control professional if they saw a rodent in their home,” said PPMA Executive Director Cindy Mannes. “This is certainly progress from where we were 20, 10 and even five years ago, but there is still a great opportunity to educate consumers on the importance of contacting a licensed pest control professional for rodent prevention and control. Rodent Awareness Week serves as an opportune time for the industry to come together and promote this crucial message.”
PPMA will be dedicating its social media pages during Rodent Awareness Week to focus on sharing important rat and mice information and tips. Pest control companies should also consider devoting their company social media pages to the topic of rodents throughout the week and use the hashtag #RodentAwareness in all posts.
Mainframe subscribers also have access to an exclusive toolkit available for download on PPMAMainframe.org. The toolkit contains a customizable press release, suggested social media content, Rodent Awareness Week logos, high resolution photography, media training documents and a list of video content that can be directly embedded on a company’s website.
